The way to do that depends on the nature of the change and the way student and employee data is entered in OnStage.
In principle, the structure is defined in the screens as the basic data Domains, Study Programmes, Course Content (those are the default labels, but many colleges use their own terminology).
- You can manage both the names and the external references in these screens. The name is as the users see the component in the screens. The external reference is important for importing student and/or staff data: the integration software looks for this code so that it can assign students to the right place.
- Creating a new domain (for example) is easily done in the appropriate screen.
This is not needed if you have an integration that works automatically: a new domain is created automatically as soon as the integration sees a reference that is new. If the name is also included in the integration, that too will be created at the same time.
Automatic integration therefore makes it easy, although it does make the role of the submitting application more important: how the change is made there affects the consequences in OnStage
